At Dr. Kan Psychological Services, we are committed to providing transparent and comprehensive information regarding your financial responsibilities. Understanding your financial obligations helps ensure a smooth experience in managing your healthcare costs.
Insurance and Payment Options:
In-Network Providers: We are in-network with Lyra, Modern Health, and Aetna. This means we have negotiated rates with these providers to help reduce your out-of-pocket expenses.
Cash-Pay Clients: We welcome cash-pay clients and accept payments via Health Savings Accounts (HSA). This offers flexibility for those who prefer not to use insurance or are out-of-network.
Superbills for Reimbursement: For clients with insurance plans other than Aetna, Lyra, or Modern Health, we can provide a superbill after payment. This document allows you to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider, though we cannot guarantee reimbursement outcomes.
Specific Guidelines for Insurance Plans:
Lyra and Modern Health Clients:
Your sponsoring company provides a specific number of sessions per calendar year.
We will submit claims directly to Lyra or Modern Health.
After reaching your session limit, you may continue therapy as a self-pay client or, if applicable, under your Aetna plan.
Aetna Clients with Deductible:
We bill Aetna at our contracted rate.
You pay the deductible portion directly to us at the time of service.
Once your deductible is met, Aetna covers the remaining balance up to the allowed amount.
Aetna Clients without Deductible or After Deductible is Met:
You may be responsible for a copay or coinsurance, payable at the time of service.
A copay is a fixed amount, while coinsurance is a percentage of the service cost.
Clients with Dual Benefits (Aetna and Lyra/Modern Health):
Claims are submitted to Lyra first. After exhausting Lyra sessions, claims are submitted to Aetna.
Note: We do not accept clients receiving concurrent treatment from another individual psychotherapist.
Out-of-Network Clients:
For clients with insurance other than Aetna, Modern Health, or Lyra, we are considered out-of-network. You will be responsible for the full fee at the time of service.
Superbills are issued monthly for psychotherapy clients and after the completion of psychological testing and assessment services.
Additional Considerations:
Payment Methods: We accept various payment methods, including credit/debit cards, checks, and HSA payments, to accommodate your preferences.
Cancellation Policy: Please be aware of our cancellation policy, which requires notice at least 72 hours in advance for psychological testing and at least 48 hours in advance for psychotherapy to avoid a cancellation fee.
Financial Assistance: If you have concerns about your ability to pay, please discuss this with us. We may offer sliding scale fees or payment plans on a case-by-case basis.
We are dedicated to assisting you in navigating your financial responsibilities and ensuring that you receive the care you need. If you have any questions or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
