Scheduling Consultations and First Appointments
At Dr. Kan Psychological Services, we strive to provide efficient and personalized care tailored to your needs. We have updated our consultation and appointment scheduling process to optimize our services and ensure each client receives the attention they deserve. Please review the following instructions carefully:
New Aetna Clients:
As an in-network provider, Dr. Kan does not offer free consultations to Aetna clients.
All new Aetna clients must visit the appointment request link and schedule a 55-minute initial appointment.
Dr. Kan Psychological Services will bill Aetna at our contracted rate for the initial appointment. If you have a deductible, you are responsible for paying the deductible portion directly to us at the time of service.
An intake appointment or consultation is necessary to evaluate your needs and determine the appropriate course of action. It may or may not result in follow-up appointments.
Requirements: Upon receiving your appointment request, we will send you consent and history forms through a patient portal. Before your initial appointment, you must sign all consent forms, submit your history form, provide your Aetna insurance information, and have a credit card on file. Dr. Kan Psychological Services may cancel your appointment if these forms and information are not submitted before your initial appointment.
New Lyra Clients:
As an in-network provider, Dr. Kan does not offer free consultations to Lyra members.
All new Lyra members must visit the appointment request link and schedule a 55-minute initial appointment. We will discuss your background and specific needs. This session will help us tailor our services to support your mental health journey. Dr. Kan will bill Lyra directly for the appointment.

New self-pay clients for psychological evaluations:
Free 15-minute phone consultations are now exclusively available to potential clients seeking psychological testing and assessments who are self-pay clients. These consultations are designed to discuss your needs and determine the suitability of psychological testing and assessments. Please visit the appointment request link and schedule a 15-minute virtual consultation session.
General Requirements for All New Patients:
History Form: All new patients must complete and submit a detailed history form. This form provides essential information about your medical and psychological background, helping us better understand your needs.
Insurance Information: If applicable, please provide your Aetna insurance information to facilitate billing and coverage verification.
Credit Card on File: A credit card must be kept on file to secure your appointment. This ensures a streamlined billing process and helps manage any fees related to cancellations or missed appointments.
Cancellation Policy: We require at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations to avoid a cancellation fee. This policy helps us manage our schedule effectively and accommodate other clients.
